This Artful Life offers a contact free drop-off/pick-up firing service for ceramics pieces between 340mm x 400mm. Using a large Woodrow Electric Hobby Fire kiln to get the best results.

All pieces are weighed prior to firing to calculate the cost. Please see our pricing list below for your reference.

Requirements:
If applying your own gloss glaze, please ensure no gloss glaze is left on the base of your work, as the work may stick to the kiln shelf and will break coming off. Please note that additional fees incur for any replacement of kiln shelf if the below are not followed:

• Wipe the base of all glazed works with a damp sponge to remove any gloss glaze residue.
• Your works are individually wrapped in soft towels or bubblewrap (not paper as this does not protect from breakage).
• Please deliver when ceramic is leather hard (a few days after being made) preferably NOT when bone dry as some clay kit companies might recommend, as your work is more likely to break in transit.
• Your clay works are left in a named box with your mobile number clearly labelled (work will be returned in the same box).
• Your name is scribed lightly into the base on the underneath of all works (we recommend using a sharp metal tool for this).

Please allow for a 2-3 week turn around dependent on our firing schedule and if extra drying time is needed before bisque.

This Artful Life offers a contact free drop-off/pick-up glazing service for any ceramic piece between 340mm x 400mm. Postage is also available within Australia at an additional cost once your piece is fired, packed and weighed.

If your ceramic work needs to be waterproof, for example, a vase, it must also be clear gloss fired by us.

1) Underglaze options:

• Underglaze kit contains primary colours plus black and white, so you can mix your own tints and tones and secondary colours (red, yellow, blue, black & white).
• Brush on underglaze kits and glazing brush sets are available separately from online store.

If you choose this option: drop off your clay pieces for their first bisque firing, buy an underglaze kit online and you can collect it when your work is fired. Then apply your underglazes at home and return works to have their second firing. Underglazes can be left matt OR are clear glossed by Katrina for waterproofing. Colours are brighter after a clear gloss is applied.

2) Gloss glaze option:

• Gloss glazing service is completed by Katrina at This Artful Life and are not sold here.

• Gloss glazes: a solid, single colour, waterproof glaze.

• Gloss glazes can only be applied onto previously bisque (first) fired work.
• Gloss options are: Clear, White, White Speckle, Matt/Satin White, Matt/Satin Black.
